Our Company
Organising Records with Care and Patience
Heritage Compass was founded on a straightforward belief: that preparing for later life should be a calm, dignified process — not a rushed or bewildering one.

A Reading Room Grew Into a Practice
Heritage Compass began in 2019 when its founder, observing family members approaching retirement in Chiang Mai, noticed a recurring difficulty: decades of accumulated paperwork — insurance correspondence, identification documents, property records, hospital receipts — sitting in unsorted piles, causing quiet anxiety whenever something needed to be found.
The solution, it turned out, was simple: a calm afternoon, a willing helper, and a clear system for labelling and indexing what was already there. No specialist knowledge required — only patience, a good filing method, and the understanding that the owner of the documents is always the one in control.
From that first household session grew a small practice. Heritage Compass now offers home visits for individual paperwork sorting, educational reading bundles drawn from publicly available materials, and family documentation workshops — all delivered with the same unhurried, respectful manner that the reading-room tradition has always valued.
Our Mission
Clarity Without Complexity
Our mission is to help individuals and families in Thailand bring quiet order to the personal documents that surround the retirement years. We do not offer financial guidance, legal interpretation or any form of regulated advice. We organise, we label, we index — and we leave each participant with a clear record of what they have and where it lives.
We also believe that reading widely — at one's own pace, in one's own home — is one of the most dignified ways to prepare for any significant life transition. Our curated reading bundles exist to support that quiet process.
"A well-ordered folder and an afternoon's reading can do more for a person's peace of mind than a great many meetings and explanations."
— Heritage Compass founding principle

How We Work
Our Standards of Practice
Every Heritage Compass engagement is conducted according to the same principles of careful, respectful service.
Strict Confidentiality
All assistants sign detailed confidentiality agreements before their first engagement. What is shared during a session is never disclosed to third parties.
Document Integrity
No personal document is ever photocopied, photographed or removed from the client's possession without explicit written permission requested on the day.
Education-Only Scope
Our services are strictly organisational and educational. We hold no regulatory licences and make no interpretations, recommendations or judgements about any document's content.
Printed Session Record
Every session concludes with a printed index that the client keeps. It lists only folder names and general categories — no sensitive content is recorded externally.
Home-Environment Respect
Assistants arrive punctually, remove footwear at the threshold, and leave every room precisely as they found it. The session happens around your existing life, not the other way around.
Vetted Reading Sources
All reading-bundle materials are drawn from established educational publishers and public information bodies. Nothing is included from unverified or promotional sources.
Our Values
What a Quiet Service Means in Practice
Document organisation, at its most useful, is an act of preparation rather than crisis management. When households have clear, indexed records — personal identification, correspondence folders, emergency contacts, family records — those around them are spared considerable difficulty during the times when clarity matters most.
Heritage Compass works with individuals at any point along the retirement journey: those just beginning to think about the years ahead, those already retired and finding their paperwork has accumulated without any particular system, and families who want to build a shared household record before they are pressed to find one.
Our reading materials are assembled from the body of publicly available retirement-planning literature — pension-system explanations, benefits summaries, healthcare pathway guides, personal finance overviews — presented without commentary or advocacy. Subscribers read at their own pace, discuss in the optional monthly reading circle if they choose, and form their own conclusions.
We are based in Wat Ket, one of Chiang Mai's older riverside neighbourhoods, a place of quiet lanes and long lunches. We think the setting suits the work rather well.
